30 caliber clip

In honor of this week’s Avengers Endgame release, I finished off my Thanos inspired Lancer Systems magazines which I acquired during California’s Freedom Week. I sure wish I purchased a few more as they are not planning on making anymore any time soon.

I guess now I’ll have to build a new Thanos inspired AR!

“Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same. And now, it’s here. Or should I say… I am.”

I’m loving my new 458 Socom build

Granted, my budget builds are not for everyone, but damn, Bear Creek Arsenal and Anderson Manufacturing sure do make some high quality affordable uppers and lowers, and I’m thankful I chose them both for this build.

Holosun never disappoints and the HS510C is no exception. I see why it is their best selling optic as this thing is a true blessing with how I like to shoot.

Mission First Tactical fits this build perfectly. Even with the mighty thump the 458 brings, the minimalist stock feels great on the shoulder. The hand grip is tight, and fits me like a glove.

Bravo Company USA has really caught my eye recently. I’m loving their rail panels that fit perfectly on my low profile hand guards, even with the big thick barrel and gas block of the 458 where others didn’t quite fit. I’m addicted to the Mod 3 Vertical Grip, angled forward for extra leverage. Good stuff at a great price.

Strike Industries makes all kinds of fun stuff. I’m a big fan of their rail panels, QD sling mounts and their awesome dust covers.

Magpul is also a favorite, although I don’t have much on this build. Great pop-up sights, and of course my fav ranger plates on the mags.

CA Legal Mags has really come through for us restricted Californians.

Deflector Brake makes a neat little product that drops your brass in a nice pile down by your feet. A feature I didn’t really care much about until I learned the value of collecting your brass for reloading. Simple but affective tool indeed.

Many of these accessory manufacturers also make uppers, lowers and barrels, but are usually way out of my price range. Judging from the craftsmanship I’ve seen in these fun accessories, I’m sure the value of their complete firearms are well worth the price. Hopefully someday I will find out first hand.

With big bore comes big responsibility

As you can see, it’s quite a bit different than my other rifle calibers… (left to right) .458 Socom, 6.5 Grendel, .300 Blackout, and standard .223/5.56 cartridges.

The .458 Socom is big, tough, and a fun rifle to shoot. It will put a smile on your face the moment you pull the trigger.

The only problem is that the round it is not readily available here in gun fearing California, and since we’ve lost our right to purchase ammunition online, I had to turn to reloading the shells myself to make this beast more affordable to shoot.

Range day

I finally got out to the big boy range to sight in the new red dot. I had it pretty well dialed in using my home range, but with a few more clicks its also performing better at greater distances.

Put about 140 rounds through the little cannon, 10 rounds at a time thanks to California’s ridiculous restrictions. I’m quickly becoming the stripper clip master and loading these things back up in a flash.

The more I shoot this magical FDE goddess, the more I want to shoot.

Know the facts about the AR-15

Banning AR-15s (Armalite Rifle) is like banning a Ford Taurus in hopes of curbing drunk drivers. It’s a model, not an assault weapon. AR-15s are a very popular model because of all the different ways you can configure them. Having built one myself recently, I can personally attest to how truly fun these things are to shoot.

Not into shooting? Fine, that is your choice, but just because it may be something you’re not into, doesn’t mean it should be stripped from the planet. I urge you to do a little research, you’d be surprised and how few deaths are caused by rifles… any rifle not just ARs.

Please don’t get caught up in the political mess and misinformation that surrounds AR-15s and those that own, shoot or sell them. I own pistols and rifles for personal protection and sport. Nothing more, nothing less.

Killers will kill, regardless of the tool. Don’t punish the millions of lawful gun owners because of the few sensational cases that misrepresent the base. Use your mind, not your emotions.
